Suzanne Berry Silversmithing
Designer . Silversmith . Jeweller

Suzanne has journeyed from her hometown on the west coast of Scotland to Glasgow, Reading and then onto Sheffield where she currently lives, and is a resident of Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works Studios. Although a bit of a nomad, her sense of home comes from the feeling of belonging to the Scottish woodlands of her childhood, the open skies of the peak district where she currently roams, and to her craft of silversmithing.
Suzanne gathers a rich source of natural textures and materials such as tree bark, twigs, and seed pods which then become immortalized in the handle of a beautifully planished jug or the curiously tactile curve of a spoon handle.
The lost wax casting process along with traditional metalworking skills such as engraving, forging, raising, chasing and repousse bring life to her imagination, creating a mindful balance between nature and man.
Each piece within Suzanne's collection is a reflection of her sense of self, while also being a very literal memory of a place and time spent there.
While this collection has been hand fabricated by Suzanne, it has only been possible with the help, support, advice, and craftsmanship of various craftsmen within Glasgow School of Art and more recently in the Sheffield, Yorkshire area. The craftsmen include the Silversmith Bob Lamb, metal spinner David Allison, and G & E Allen Castings Ltd.
